Two-time Super Bowl winner Von Miller of the Buffalo Bills has been suspended four games without pay by the National Football League (NFL). The league announced this and justified the punishment as a violation of the personal conduct guidelines. The 35-year-old will be available to the Bills again on October 28th against the Seattle Seahawks. It is not clear from the statement which offense the NFL specifically punished.
Miller turned himself in to police at the beginning of December following an arrest warrant. He was then released on bail. The Bills linebacker is said to have assaulted his pregnant girlfriend. According to police, the woman did not need to be taken to hospital but suffered minor injuries.
The Dallas Police Department confirmed that officers arrived on scene following a disturbance call. Investigations revealed that an argument had probably escalated. Miller was no longer there when the police arrived. Miller himself denied the allegations. He said the allegations against him were “100 percent false”: “I can’t talk about everything. But all the things that have been reported are completely false. Everything was completely exaggerated.”
The 35-year-old won Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos in 2016 and Super Bowl 56 with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022.
Basketball: Fiebich and Sabally with New York before reaching the WNBA final
The German national basketball players Leonie Fiebich and Nyara Sabally are about to reach the final series in the North American professional league WNBA with the New York Liberty team. With 88:84 against the Las Vegas Aces, New York also won the second semifinal game at home and only needs one more win to advance.
Fiebich scored six points in just over 25 minutes of play, Sabally was not used. The outstanding player was US Olympic champion Sabrina Ionescu with 24 points. A’ja Wilson also scored 24 points for Las Vegas. “It’s nice to be 2-0 up, but we haven’t won anything yet. Everyone knows that. We did what we had to do and defended the home advantage,” said Ionescu.
The third game takes place on Friday in Las Vegas. The Aces have recently been WNBA champions twice and defeated New York in the final last year. So far, no team in the history of the league has managed to turn around a 0-2 deficit in the play-offs.
