Draisaitls Oilers lose important NHL game in Dallas
Dusseldorf While most Europeans are asleep, the North American professional leagues are buzzing. What Happened That Night in American Football, Basketball, and Ice Hockey.
Ice Hockey: Draisaitl concedes another loss with the Oilers
Ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl has again suffered bankruptcy in the North American professional league NHL. The 26-year-old lost 5-3 with the Edmonton Oilers at the Dallas Stars. Draisaitl was also unable to prevent defeat with his goal to take a 3:2 lead (47th). Edmonton is still third in the Pacific Division, which would be enough for a place in the playoffs. Most recently, the team’s series of five wins against the Colorado Avalanche was torn (2:3 aet).
Tim Stützle also lost 0:3 with the Ottawa Senators against the New York Islanders. The Canadians are second to bottom in the Atlantic Division.
Moritz Seider and goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer celebrated victories. Seider defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 6-3 with the Detroit Red Wings, Grubauer defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-2 with the Seattle Kraken. While Seattle is last in the Pacific Division, Detroit is fifth in the Atlantic Division.
Basketball: Wagner brothers triumph against the Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors also lost the second game without an injured Steph Curry and suffered a painful setback in the battle for the top playoff spots in the NBA. Against the Orlando Magic around the Berlin Franz and Moritz Wagner there was a 90:94 on Tuesday evening and thus already the third defeat in a row. “I think we’re playing soft, I think we’re playing dumb,” Warriors pro Draymond Green said. “We just don’t play good basketball.” Curry will probably miss his team for at least a week because of an ankle injury.
Franz Wagner from Berlin, who played well with a total of 18 points, sealed Orlando’s 20th win of the season with three converted free throws and a dunk in the last 14 seconds of the game. “He has an incredible will to do the right thing. He wants to take advantage of these great moments. He’s very present there,” coach Jamahl Mosley praised his number 22. “It’s great,” said the 20-year-old Wagner. At half-time his team was leading 46:38, then was up to 14 points behind and still won. “We had fun defending too,” he said.
In the top game of the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Chicago Bulls 126-98. After a game break due to knee problems, Giannis Antetokounmpo had 25 points and 17 rebounds and consolidated the defending champion’s second place behind the Miami Heat. The Bulls are fifth.
