What you missed that night in NFL, NBA, and NHL
Dusseldorf While most Europeans are asleep, the North American professional leagues are busy. What happened during the night in American football, basketball and ice hockey. Today among other things: LeBron James flies off the field and Grubauer ends a series of negative events.
NHL: Grubauer ends negative series of Kraken
Ice hockey national player Philipp Grubauer has ended his negative streak with Seattle Kraken in the North American professional league NHL. After the last six defeats in a row, the team won 5-2 against the Washington Capitals around superstar Alexander Ovetschkin.
Grubauer, who had moved from title contender Colorado to Seattle before the season, parried 37 shots, 22 of them in the last third alone. Seattle Kraken remains last in the Pacific division.
The German national player Nico Sturm, on the other hand, lost with his Minnesota Wild against champions Tampa Bay Lightning 4-5 after a shootout. The Wild had equalized a 2: 4 deficit in the final third. Sturm stood on the ice for 11:22 minutes, but the 26-year-old striker failed to score or assist. Minnesota continues to lead the Central Division.
NFL: Chiefs take the Dallas win
The Kansas City Chiefs are gaining momentum in the NFL and have also won their home game against the recently strong Dallas Cowboys. The never endangered 19: 9 was the fourth win in a row, only the New England Patriots were even more successful with five wins in the past few weeks than the Super Bowl champion from two years ago.
Because the Los Angeles Chargers won in a wild game against the Pittsburgh Steelers 41:37 in the end, nothing changed in the gap between the Chiefs in first place of the AFC West and the Chargers in second place.
NBA: LeBron James hits opponents with a fist in the face
NBA superstar LeBron James was thrown off the pitch when the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Detroit Pistons and caused a huge commotion with his action. According to US media, it was only the second expulsion for James in his career.
The Lakers finally won the game on Sunday evening (local time) 121: 116 and are at least back with a balanced record of nine wins and nine losses. After a quarter of the season, the record champions are still lagging behind their own claims and are currently not in a place with direct qualification for the playoffs.
At the top of the Western Conference are the Golden State Warriors, who won their home game against the Toronto Raptors 119-104. With their twelfth win in a row, the Phoenix Suns are the closest pursuit – the previous year’s finalist for the championship won against the Denver Nuggets 126: 97. In the Eastern Conference the Chicago Bulls come after the 109: 103 against the New York Knicks like the Brooklyn Nets to twelve wins and five losses
The Dallas Mavericks lost to the NBA when national basketball player Maxi Kleber returned to the North American professional league. At the LA Clippers, the Mavs, who have to do without their superstar Luka Doncic, lost 91:97. For Dallas it was the third loss in a row.
On his comeback, Kleber had five points and four rebounds in just under 20 minutes of play. The 29-year-old had been absent since the beginning of November due to a back injury.
