The US sent a delegation to Venezuela, which plans to meet with representatives of the government of Nicolas Maduro, to weaken its ties with Russia. This is reported TASSreferring to the material of The New York Times (NYT).
According to the publication, Washington is making efforts to “separate Russia from its international allies” against the backdrop of escalation in Ukraine.
According to NYT sources, the US delegation went to Venezuela on Saturday, March 5, it consists of high-ranking representatives of the State Department and the White House. At the same time, in Washington, according to the interlocutors, they are afraid of security threats that may come from Russian allies in Latin America in the event of a “deepening confrontation with the Russian Federation.”
Earlier, Venezuela, which was recognized as one of the most dangerous countries in the world for travel, announced its readiness to accept tourists from Russia in spite of Western sanctions. The Minister of Tourism of Venezuela, Ali Padron Paredes, stressed that the republic continues to operate flights with Russia – direct flights of the Conviasa airline are available to travelers.
