São Paulo, 2 – US exporters sold 79.9 thousand tons of wheat from the 2021/22 crop in the week ended November 25, the country’s Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported on Thursday weekly. The volume, the lowest in the commercial year, represents a drop of 86% compared to the previous week and 80% compared to the average of the previous four weeks.
During the week, the main buyers were Colombia (38.4 thousand t), Mexico (16,800 t), Malaysia (9 thousand t), El Salvador (7,000 t) and Guatemala (4.3 thousand t), which offset cancellations from Peru (1,400 t), Philippines (600 t) and Indonesia (200 t).
For the 2022/23 season, 26 thousand tons were sold to Colombia.
The volume sold was below the estimates made by analysts consulted by Dow Jones Newswires, which ranged from 250 thousand to 600 thousand tons.
Shipments in the period totaled 371.4 thousand tons, up 87% in the weekly comparison and 66% compared to the average of the previous four weeks. The main destinations in the period were the Philippines (184.4 thousand t), Taiwan (52.1 thousand t), Mexico (48.4 thousand t), Malaysia (28.4 thousand t) and Honduras (21 thousand t).
