The United States estimates that 2,000 to 4,000 Russian soldiers have died in combat since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, according to information released on Tuesday (8) by the director of intelligence at the US Department of Defense, General Scott Berrier.

In a committee in the US House of Representatives, Berrier admitted that the numbers are inaccurate, as they come from different intelligence sources, in addition to data that have been released by various channels. Last week, the Russian Defense Ministry, for example, reported on the death of 498 military personnel in the country participating in the conflict.

According to the Pentagon’s director of intelligence, the invasion of Ukraine was “poorly planned”, as the Kremlin did not mobilize “the logistical support necessary to achieve the objective of occupying the neighboring country quickly.
