Robinhood, the brokerage firm, announced on Monday, 8th, that a hack on its systems last November 3rd exposed the data of millions of its customers. According to a statement, after containing the invasion, the unauthorized party demanded a payment.
“We understand that the unauthorized party has obtained a list of email addresses of approximately five million people and full names of a different group of approximately two million people,” the statement read. “We also believe that for a more limited number of people – approximately 310 in total – additional personal information, including name, date of birth and zip code, has been exposed,” said Robinhood.
According to the company, “we promptly informed law enforcement authorities and continued to investigate the incident with the help of Mandiant, a leading external security company.”
