If you think you’ve seen it all in the covid-19 pandemic, be aware that there is an anti-vaccination restaurant in the United States that prohibits mask use.
As shown by the American gossip site Toofab, Basilico’s Pasta e Vino, a restaurant located in Huntington Beach, in Orange County, California (USA) requires that its customers not be vaccinated and do not use facial protection inside the establishment.

The normal thing in the pandemic is to see customers being kicked out of restaurants for not wearing masks, but in the case of the infamous Basilico’s, just the opposite occurs.
Comedian Ben Gleib tried this attitude and ended up getting kicked out by the waiters.
In a video released last Friday (20/8) by The Young Turks channel on YouTube, Gleib mixes with other customers, who appreciate the establishment’s “fight for freedom”.
“It’s nice to have a place that ‘steps its foot’ for freedom and says ‘we don’t care about this deadly virus, let’s do it our way.’ I love it”, says the comedian inside the Californian restaurant – the recording is being done in secret, according to Toofab.
“It’s all about freedom, right?” retorts the waiter, who thinks the customer shares this ideology.
However, the tone changes quickly when Ben Gleib puts on a mask while sitting at his table – and immediately the waiter rips off the protection and asks him out.
“Get out of here! Get out! Get out of here. You don’t even have to pay,” says the visibly altered employee of Basilico’s Pasta e Vino in the video shared on YouTube.
“I was vaccinated! I’m sorry I didn’t put anyone at risk! Next time, I’m going to take covid-19 and cough on people. I’ll do it!”, jokes the comedian as he is carried out of the establishment by two waiters.
As he is pushed out of the restaurant, Gleib is called a “Nazi brown shirt” (in reference to the standard German Nazi party uniform). “Why don’t I want to infect people?” says the comedian. “No, because you’re an idiot,” responds one of the employees.
In a conversation with The Young Turks presenters Cenk Uygur and John Iadarola, Ben Gleib says he was “probably” not going to file assault charges, “because he’s able to handle things and he’s not a baby.”
Meanwhile, on Basilico’s Pasta e Vino’s official Facebook profile, restaurant owner Tony Roman compares covid-19’s treatment in the US with Nazi Germany.
“You are all traitorous Americans. You are complicit in the destruction of our nation in the last 18 months […] Enemies of American freedom and the right to be free. Therefore, we ask everyone to leave or stay with us, otherwise they will be on the wrong side of history, as well as those who were on the wrong side of the Berlin Wall”, says the businessman in a shared post last Friday (20/8) ), on Mark Zuckerberg’s social network.
