It was Judge Mark Pittman of the Northern District of Texas who stopped the Biden administration from shutting out unaccompanied migrant children from Title 42.
It should be remembered that it was at the beginning of March 2020 when The United States applied Title 42, Just when the Covid-19 pandemic was beginning, this was done by applying the criteria of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that allow the expulsion of migrants who are considered a threat to public health.
Mark Pittman was appointed by former President Donald Trump in 2019, and despite the various criticisms of Title 42, the Joe Biden administration continued to use this measure, according to the EFE news agency.
Due to this situation, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and other organizations filed lawsuits against Title 42, mentioning that it violates asylum laws, in addition to exposing rejected migrants to being in precarious and vulnerable situations in Mexico. .
