House blocks government stopgap funding plan
The US House of Representatives has blocked a bill to temporarily fund the US government until March 2025. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the voting results.
The bill is designed to prevent a government shutdown and was proposed by Republicans.
220 members of the lower house of Congress voted against the initiative. At the same time, 202 people voted for it. Two congressmen abstained from voting.
Earlier, it was reported that US President Joe Biden had decided to veto the government funding bill. It was noted that this would keep the government operational and provide the necessary funding for Americans in the event of natural disasters.
