Politico: Iran is trying to kill Trump
Iranian authorities are allegedly making active attempts to kill US presidential candidate from the Republican Party Donald Trump and former senior US officials whom the republic blames for the death of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in 2020. The publication writes about this Politico.
The media outlet claims to have discussed the matter with 24 officials, including former parliamentarians, Secret Service agents and senior government officials. They spoke about attempts to conduct digital surveillance of former government employees and members of their families. They also reported efforts by suspected Iranian operatives to track down a U.S. official while he was traveling abroad.
It is noted that former employees of the National Security Council are forced to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to ensure their security, since they do not receive any protection from the American authorities.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden called on the Iranian authorities to “stop plotting” against Trump. It is reported that former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former National Security Advisor John Bolton and former US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook were also allegedly targeted by Iran.
