On Friday, the US House of Representatives approved the social investment plan proposed by President Joe Biden, which now passes to the Senate, where the Democratic Party has a small majority over the opposition.
Today, the proposal has already advanced by a narrow margin, with 220 deputies voting in favor, while 213 were against.
The social package, dubbed “Build Back Better”, is valued at 1.75 trillion (BRL 9.7 trillion) and would expand programs aimed at minors and seniors, in addition to dedicating $550 billion (BRL 3 trillion) to the fight against climate change in the US.
