A worker who is the subject of a complaint Eeva Eskola says the complaint will be filed during March. In his opinion, the location of the sauna near the nationally significant Hietaniemi Cemetery is not suitable.
“Couldn’t the environment in the cemetery be considered peaceful? This is about the greed of the city. All the plots will be sold without thinking about the whole value range. ”
The distance from the construction site to the cemetery wall is about 70 meters.
According to Eskola, the increase in traffic is also a fear.
“The streets coming to Hietaniemi have signs that you are not allowed to drive after 10 pm and there is a speed limit of 30 kilometers in the area. Why are new activities planned for the beach that will increase traffic and danger areas on the narrow road next to the cemetery? ”
The City of Helsinki applied for tenants for marine sauna plots last summer. Hietaniemi Water Sports Center Laguuni Oy and Seurasaari KF Restaurant Oy have been proposed as recipients of sauna reservations in Hietaniemi and Seurasaari.
Helsinki’s leading land agent Elina Kuikanmäki according to the sauna site, special emphasis was placed on taking into account culturally and historically valuable environments, natural values and other actors.

“The Helsinki Nature Conservation Association has asked how the sauna affects bird birds and bird nesting.”
From the board, the matter will proceed to the City Government’s Business Division, which will decide on the reservation of sauna seats.
Eskolan According to him, the complaint about the location of the Hietaniemi sauna is only being made now, because according to him, many had realized that the sauna was being planned on the Hietaniemi beach side.
The sauna place is in front of the Hietaniemi parking area on the side of Ourit Island.
In Eskola’s opinion, a public sauna in Töölö is desirable, but in his opinion, Rajasaari or Taivalsaari would be a more suitable place for it than in Hietaniemi.
Café and restaurant activities are also planned in connection with the sauna.
