The Omoda 5 has quickly become a successful model in Spain. While the procedures progress for this car to begin being assembled in Spain, in the facilities of the Barcelona Free Trade Zone, in less than six months it has managed to exceed the figure of 5,000 registered units.
The Chinese brand’s vehicle is now updated, a new gasoline engine with lower consumption and emissions, as well as a new interior, aesthetic changes and other practical additions.
It is already on sale in Spanish dealerships for a price that, with the brand’s financing conditions, has a monthly payment of 149 euros. Without them, it can be purchased from 27,900 euros. And always, with a 7-year warranty or 150,000 km.
The Omoda 5 MY25 incorporates a new Euro6E four-cylinder in-line gasoline engine that replaces the previous one. With 1,598 cc of displacement, 145 HP (108 kW) and a torque of 275 Nm, it is associated with the modern 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that was equipped with its predecessor.
With this configuration it presents a better balance between performance and sustainability, with a 6.7% reduction in its consumption and 6.5% in its emissions. The new model declares an official combined consumption of 7 l/100 km and emissions that drop to 159 g/kmboth in the WLTP combined cycle (7.5 l/100 km and 170 g/km in the previous OMODA 5). All in all, it achieves acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.1 seconds and a maximum speed of 195 km/h.
The other big change occurs in the cabin, which is now more technological and intuitive. In addition, it offers quality levels in materials and adjustments more typical of higher segments, which also make it even more comfortable. The first big novelty is a large integrated screen, thinner and wider, composed of two LCDs of 12.3 inches (31 cm) each (10.25″ and 26 cm in the previous model).
The second improvement is the new floating center console, which consists of a clearly differentiated second module and incorporates a single line of quick-access physical buttons for climate control and driving mode selection. In this way, touch commands are combined with voice commands in an infotainment system from which all air conditioning, audio, telephony and customization functions of many of the main parameters are managed. The new center console also includes two covers that hide practical storage spaces and the mobile phone holder, with 50W induction wireless charging. Below, both the space for larger personal effects and the connection sockets (USB, USB-C and 12V) are maintained.
In the trunk, the Omoda 5 now has a much more versatile floor, which can be placed in two positions to make better use of its cargo capacity.
It also adds new exterior elements, such as the word Omoda in the center of the rear lights, parking sensors more effective in the front grill and bars on the roof for loading luggage (standard). The new model is equipped with Kumho tires as standard.
