In about a week, precisely from next July 19th and until July 23rd, the GDC 2021, or better known as the Game Developers Conference 2021 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. As expected, lots of new games and more will be the centerpiece of the experience, as well as the new Unreal Engine 5.
The latter, Epic’s well-known proprietary graphics engine, will show itself in a new and amazing technical demo called Alpha Point, and will be shown to the general public on Tuesday 20 July.
To illustrate the power of the engine will be the study behind the last chapters of Gears of War, or The Coalition. In detail, we could take a closer look at some features such as Lumen and Nanite shot directly on the current generation Microsoft consoles, Xbox Series X is Xbox Series S.
Even before the practical demonstration, an image captured directly from the main Xbox console was shared on the network, and we propose it below.
Unreal Engine 5 is currently available to developers via Early Access. We know for example that the new title of Ninja Theory, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, is currently under development and will use the engine in question.
At the moment, however, as stated several times in the past by de The Coalition, the studio belonging to the family Xbox Game Studios is not currently working on a specific title, as they are more committed to studying in depth and better understanding the new graphics engine.
Who knows if soon we could see a new chapter of Gears of War, perhaps the sixth, with the new game engine. The saga has always used the engine in question, and on a technical level it has never had many rivals in this regard. We will find out in the future, but not at the Game Developers Conference 2021.
