Created to meet the need for qualified labor, the master’s course in Management and Regulation of Water Resources, coordinated by the São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquista (Unesp) and offered in partnership with 13 other public universities in Brazil, will offer 266 new vacancies for a class whose classes will start in March 2022.
Free of charge, the so-called Professional Master’s Degree in the National Network in Management and Regulation of Water Resources (ProfÁgua) is a postgraduate program stricto sensu created in 2015, at the initiative of the National Water and Basic Sanitation Agency (ANA) and recommended by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), of the Ministry of Education.
The course lasts 24 months and trains professionals to work in public agencies, river basin committees, water resources councils and in the private sector. Each participating educational institution offers, this year, between 12 and 32 places (see list below).
Online registration
Interested parties must apply through the site from Unesp, until January 19th. For this, it is necessary to pay a registration fee of R$ 76, and send, attached, copies of the documents required in the notice for the ProfÁgua 2022 selection process. In addition, candidates must also submit a research project proposal in one of the two following lines of study: Water Resources Policy Instruments and Water Resources Regulation and Governance.
The published schedule foresees that the result of the first selective stage will be known on February 2nd. Enrollment is scheduled to take place between March 15th and March 18th and classes are expected to start on March 21st, the eve of World Water Day.
According to ANA, since 2015, ProfÁgua has trained 300 masters from all regions of the country – professionals who, according to the agency, are able to deal with the most complex challenges in the management and regulation of water resources in Brazil. ANA also stated that it has already invested more than R$7.3 million in the course.
