The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has the ‘green card’ or green card, a document that grants legal permanent residence in the country from two to ten years.

After a decade, it must be renewed or begin the citizenship process, if the applicant meets the requirements.
The holders of this document have the security of not being deported and have access to benefits during their stay in the United States.
How to get a ‘green card’?
A ‘green card’ can be obtained from different situations:
1) Through the sponsorship of a family member.
2) Through employment.
3) For being a special immigrant.
4) For having refugee status.
5) Victims of human trafficking can obtain it.
6) For being a victim of abuse.
7) Through Diversity visas.
8) If you lived continuously in the United States since before January 1, 1972.
Which family members are eligible?
Many beneficiaries of this document obtain it through their relatives, but not all ties allow it to be requested. The immigrant visa is addressed to the following direct relatives of US citizensAccording to the State Department:

Who has preference?
The fastest processing applications are for spouses of US citizens and children under the age of 21. They can take anywhere from four to 12 months.
However, the process can take from seven to 22 years for applications from older or married children, parents and siblings.
How to apply for a green card for a relative?
Anyone who migrates based on a petition by a relative must have a financial sponsor, according to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Subsequently, Form I-864, Affidavit of Support must be completedin which the relative with American citizenship assumes responsibility for his relative.
“If you decide to sponsor your relative’s immigration by filing Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, you must agree to be the financial sponsor and file an affidavit of financial support when the time of actual immigration arrives,” USCIS states.
What are the requirements to sponsor a relative’s green card?
1) Commit to taking care of the immigrant’s expenses in case he cannot pay them through an Affidavit.
2) Demonstrate minimum financial income of 125% above the federal poverty level.
3) Have US citizenship.
4) Be 18 years of age or older.
5) Live in the United States.
