United States For the first time, Biden was appointed a black woman judge by the U.S. Supreme Court

Ketanji Brown Jackson, 51, was considered the number one judge since the current judge, Stephen Breyer, announced his retirement in January.

The United States president Joe Biden appointed a new judge to the Supreme Court on Friday Ketanji Brown Jackson51.

Among other things US television company CNN and the news agency Reuters said earlier that day, based on anonymous sources, that Biden was going to appoint Jackson.

In the afternoon, Biden announced his decision in five countries Finnish time.

“He will become an exceptional judge,” the president said.

He also described Jackson as one of the greatest brilliant legal thinkers in the U.S. nation.

The appointment is historic, as there has never been a black woman as a member of the Supreme Court before. The U.S. Supreme Court is the most prominent federal court that makes binding preliminary rulings binding on other courts.

Members of the Supreme Court are elected for life, but may also retire. There are only nine judges in the Supreme Court, whose careers are usually long, so the appointment to the jury is significant.

Jackson is currently working as a judge for the Federal Court of Appeals.

The United States liberal member of the Supreme Court Stephen Breyer, 83, said he would retire at the end of January this year. Spokesman for the White House Jen Psaki Biden said at the time that Biden would stay behind his previous promise and plan to appoint a black woman as a Supreme Court judge.

With the appointment of Jackson, the current relationship between conservatives and liberals in the Supreme Court will also be maintained. There are currently six Conservative members and three Liberals in the Supreme Court. Jackson is a liberal.

Stephen Breyer will leave his position at the end of his current term in June this year.

Most recently, a member of the U.S. Supreme Court was elected Donald Trumpin during the presidency in 2020. Trump chose the role of conservative Amy Coney Barretinwhich filled the liberal Ruth Bader Ginsburgin place. Bader Ginsburg’s place became vacant when he died at the age of 87.
