The American House of Representatives will transmit, Monday, January 25 to the Senate, its indictment of Donald Trump for inciting an insurgency, announced Friday, January 22 the leader of the new Democratic majority in the upper house of the Congress of the United States , Chuck Schumer. The Senate will thus be able to organize a trial against Donald Trump, the first American president subject to two separate impeachment proceedings. As he has not been president since Joe Biden’s inauguration, this trial could result in a ban on presidential office in the future.
“The House will forward the article of impeachment to the Senate. The Senate will hold an impeachment trial against Donald Trump. It will be a full trial. It will be a fair trial.”, said Chuck Schumer.
Representatives launched the impeachment process after the Capitol was invaded on January 6 by supporters of Donald Trump, who had previously urged them to challenge U.S. parliamentarians’ certification of Joe Biden’s presidential victory November.
