‘United Kingdom will administer third jab in September’

- It United Kingdom will start offering booster shots of the corona vaccine in September. The British newspaper reported that The Telegraph Sunday. 32 million Britons will have the option to get an extra shot, which should ensure that immunity against Covid-19 is strengthened. It is not yet known which vaccines are used for this. The new round of vaccinations should start on September 6 and be completed by early December.
- Into the hard lockdown the Australian city of Brisbane was supposed to end on Tuesday, but has been extended until next Sunday. The authorities note that the measures taken so far are not sufficient to curb the emergence of the Delta variant of the virus. In Sydney, military personnel have begun patrolling to enforce the quarantine obligation, Reuters news agency reported.
- The government of New Zealand plans to allow seasonal workers from the Pacific islands of Tonga, Samoa and Vanuatu to enter the country without quarantine requirements. They are needed to counteract the shortage of agricultural workers. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said Monday he needed about 3,000 people. There are currently no corona outbreaks in the Pacific Islands, in total Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu recorded seven infections since the start of the corona pandemic.

Pharmaceuticals Pfizer and Moderna have their corona vaccines in the latest contracts with the European Union made more expensive, reported the Financial Times. Pfizer has increased prices by a quarter, Moderna by a tenth.
In the hospitals were 683 corona patients on Sunday afternoon. That was sixteen more than the day before. In addition, RIVM received 2,350 reports of positive corona tests and two reports of deaths as a result of the corona virus between Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
In several cities last weekend demonstrated against national corona passes, which gives residents with a vaccination or test certificate more freedom. In Paris about fifteen thousand people took to the streets, in the whole of France about two hundred thousand. Demonstrations were also held in Germany; the police arrested at least 500 protesters.
The port of Rotterdam starts with a vaccination trial for seamen. Over the next two months, 10,000 doses will be made available to seafarers entering the port via ships, according to industry association KVNR. The program must be accessible to persons on board of foreign shipping companies.
