The CCOO Industry unions, UGT FICA and CIG have informed the employers this Friday of their intention to call a general strike in the sector for the first days of December.
This was announced after the negotiating committee meetingwhere the unions have not accepted that the employers have carried out a proposal “almost identical to the one presented at the last meeting of September and which he has described as definitive”.
The organizations remember that the proposal was already classified as insufficient and far from their positionsso they warned that if there was no agreement at today’s meeting “the conflict would be served.”
The unions, in a joint statement, denounce “the intransigent attitude of the employers that blocks, de facto, the negotiation table” and they consider that the employers “forget about the working people.” They remember that the sector has gone from billing 24,468 million euros in 2019 to reach almost 42,600 million euros in 202375% more in this period and “only in 2023 it grew by 11%.”
Finally, they consider it necessary to press “so that there is a fair distribution of wealth that is generated with the efforts of the workers in the meat industry”.
Therefore, given the lack of progress, the federations have ended the meeting, informing the employers of the decision to begin the procedures to mobilize the sector in the first days of Decemberthrough a call for a general strike.
