Union Berlin moved up to fifth thanks to a 2-1 away win at 1. FC Köln; the billy goats, on the other hand, are still waiting for their first win and are level on points with FC Schalke 04 at the bottom of the table.
Taiwo Awoniyi gave the visitors the lead after 27 minutes, while Ellyes Skhiri equalized for Cologne after 36 minutes. The Eiserne presented themselves, however, much more agile and determined than the disappointing Cologne team and rewarded themselves after 72 minutes: Max Kruse only failed with a penalty, but scored in the margin to make it 2-1.
Kruse missed a single Bundesliga record: after 17 penalties in the Bundesliga, the attacker missed his first penalty against Cologne in the German upper house.
