A unified electronic visa in Russia will be launched on August 1. This was announced on Friday, July 28, by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
“The launch of a single electronic visa will take place on August 1, 2023 at 10:00 Moscow time (07.00 UTC),” the Telegram channel departments.
The message also clarifies that a countdown timer has been launched on the website of the diplomatic mission.
Earlier, on July 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with members of the Russian government, supported the introduction of electronic visas in Russia from August 1, 2023. Thus, he responded to the corresponding request of Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.
Earlier in the day, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said that the first countries with which Russia will launch an electronic visa system could be China and India.
On June 28, the head of state said that Russia was interested in making all the formalities for foreign tourists as convenient as possible, and called for the launch of electronic visas as soon as possible.
In 2020, a law was passed in Russia, according to which, from 2021, the issuance of electronic visas online for citizens of 52 states was supposed to begin, but this did not happen due to the pandemic.
In the fall of 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Security Service, to begin work on the renewal of the e-visa for residents of countries that were not included in the list of unfriendly countries.
