The alcohol and cocaine addict in Spain has between 34 and 41 yearshas primary education and is located in unemployment. These are data from a study prepared by the Addiction Care Network with figures recorded throughout 2023. In the 72% of cases are men.
The most common thing is that, in both men and women addicts, they present some type of mental illness, have children and resides in a home owned by you or the family member with whom you live. In the case of women, they have usually been consuming alcohol and cocaine since they were under 25 years old. In the case of men, however, is a consumer from an early age and when the age of majority has not been reached. In total, during the year 2023, 62,535 people with addictions were treated.
Bingo, highlighted among those without substance
The report also includes the figures for those addictions that do not involve a substance, which would be mostly men, in a proportion of 70%. Among this type of addictions, the most numerous is to bingo (in 49% of cases) and online addiction to video games, which would affect 40% of the Spanish population. These addictions would be associated, in any case, with alcohol and cannabis.
But, in addition to bingo and video games, drug addictions stand out. compulsive purchases and social networks. The most common age group is 26 to 33 years old (in 21% of cases). Compulsory Secondary Education is the maximum level of education achieved, 48% have employment and 25% study.
On the other hand, the main addiction in person is to slot machines and the ‘online’ addiction to sports bettings. As was the case with bingo, they are associated with the consumption of alcohol and cannabis.
