After the success, it seems that the following of Uncharted is really inevitable. The head of Sony Pictures, Tom Rothman, described the series as a new blockbuster film franchise for the company.
The film (which we talked about in our dedicated review that you can find here) has come to touch around 139 million dollars, which means that it has already made up a lot of the production budget.
Here are the words of Tom Rothman in an internal email sent to Deadline:
It is Presidents’ Day in America, but today we are open in most places in the world and we have another global triumph to celebrate. With over $ 100 million in box office gross worldwide in a single weekend and a 90% positive audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Uncharted is a successful new film franchise for the company.
Rothman also went on to praise the staff who worked on the film for deliveries in unprecedented times (Uncharted we remind you it was shot and edited during the coronavirus pandemic) and also reserved some special words for the PlayStation division:
I want to thank all the directors, the wonderful cast and crew, and especially our friends at PlayStation Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment for their support.
A sequel has yet to be announced, of course, but the scene after the titles tail can begin to move something in the fans’ heads. Although nothing is known, the words of Tom Rothman and the great success of the film, can only open more than one hope to a possible sequel of Uncharted.
Information related to a follow-up of Uncharted end here for today, we remind you that if you are a fan not only of the film but also of the game, the new skins dedicated to the characters have finally arrived on Fortnitefind more details here.
