UNHCR: Lebanese civilian death toll unacceptable
The number of civilian casualties as a result of the strike on Lebanon is unacceptable, said Filippo Grandi, head of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), on his social media page X.
“The escalation of the crisis in Lebanon is frightening. Today, thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes in a region already devastated by war. The number of civilian casualties is unacceptable,” Grandi wrote.
He stressed that it was necessary to urgently end the hostilities and that politicians must “find solutions.”
Earlier it became known that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked more than 150 Hezbollah facilities in Lebanon on September 23. The day before, the Israeli side recorded the launch of more than 100 rockets from Lebanon. Deputy Secretary General of the Shiite Hezbollah movement Naim Qassem said that the movement had entered a new stage of the conflict with Israel.
