Thanks and pride in Andriy Shevchenko’s farewell words to the Ukrainian national team, on the last day of his contract as coach.
The farewell to the national team is now a reality for the Black Sea Phenomenon. Andriy Shevchenko’s words: “Today my contract with the Ukrainian Football Association ended. I spent 5 years with the national team. It was a difficult job that however it has shown that we are capable of playing modern football “.
Sheva again: “I am grateful to the president and the executive committee of the Federation of my country for the opportunity given to me to work with the national team of Ukraine, as well as I am grateful to every player and every collaborator who has helped me. I thank the fans for their support and also for constructive criticism. Together, we have been able to demonstrate that our football can be competitive, productive and exciting. “
In July 2016, after that year’s European Championship, Sheva replaced Fomenko as coach, signing a two-year contract with an option for two more. In his staff he also wanted the former Milan player Mauro Tassotti and Andrea Maldera, son of the former Milan player Luigi. After qualifying for Euro 2020 in 2019, coach Shevchenko managed to lead his team to the quarter-finals of the tournament, for the first time in the history of the Ukrainian national team.
