The Ukrainian military conducted exercises to respond to the breakthrough of manpower and armored equipment of a mock enemy at a training ground in the Kherson region, near the border with Crimea. This was reported on Wednesday, October 20, by the press service of the command of the joint forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.
“In the grouping of troops” South “, which is subordinate to the command of the joint forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in one of the most threatening areas, training of artillery anti-tank reserves was conducted to respond to a breakthrough of manpower and armored equipment of a mock enemy,” the statement says.
It is noted that this event took place at one of the training grounds in the Kherson region, which is located near the border with Crimea.
According to the data provided by the press service, the military at the exercises were able to demonstrate practical skills in deploying crews and firing at targets. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine added that such events are held weekly, their goal is to maintain a high level of knowledge, skills and morale of the personnel of artillery crews.
Earlier, on October 6, Ukrainian military personnel also held exercises on the border with Crimea, during which they trained to launch missile strikes. Then the calculations of the tactical missile systems “Tochka-U” confidently showed a good preparation of the initial data for rocket firing, as well as the transfer of the complexes from the traveling position to the combat one, the press service of the Ukrainian Armed Forces added.
On September 22, military exercises began in Ukraine with the participation of NATO countries. Fifteen states took part in the United Efforts 2021 strategic command and staff exercise. The maneuvers ended on 30 September.
At the same time, on October 14, the ex-head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov said that the country should develop a plan for the return of Crimea and Donbass using weapons and the military. According to him, the country needs to formally consolidate the strategy of “de-occupation” of these territories.
On the same day, Senator of the Federation Council from Crimea Olga Kivitidi noted that Ukrainian politicians need to think about people of different nations who live on the peninsula – they all decided to reunite with Russia in a referendum. She added that politicians also familiarize themselves with the Russian constitution and the criminal code.
Crimea returned to the Russian Federation in 2014 following a referendum in which most of the region’s residents voted for reunification.
