In the midst of the numerous shows of support that old glories of Ukrainian football have given to their country, after the Russian invasion of their territory, the silence of some figures has taken on great importance.

On the list of names, Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, who was captain of the Ukrainian national team in the past two decades, and today works as a technical assistant at Zenit, Russia, has received much of the criticism from fans. Now, according to the Ukrainian Football Federation, his silence has also been institutionally punished.
Anatoliy Tymoshchuk condemned for his silence
“Since the beginning of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, Tymoshchuk, former captain of the Ukraine national team, not only did not make public statements about it, but also did not stop his cooperation with the club of the ‘aggressor country’ (Zenit)”expressed the Ukrainian Federation this Wednesday through its website.
“At a time when another excluding of the Ukrainian, Bayern Munich, has published statements and carries out actions in support of Ukraine, Tymoshchuk is still quiet and working for the ‘aggressor’s team’. By making this conscious choice, Tymoshchuk damages the image of Ukrainian football and violates the Federation’s Code of Ethics and Fair Play.”

Then, again emphasizing Tymoshchuk’s “silence”, the Ukrainian Federation ordered to withdraw his official coaching license. It also gave “instructions for the public authorities to deprive the player of all state and honorary awards” and ordered “exclude Tymoshchuk from the official register of players of the national teams” and “strip him of all the titles he has in the Ukrainian championship, the Ukrainian Cup and the Ukrainian Super Cup”.
So far, the former soccer player has not commented on the matter.
