Ukrainian judge Gnatovsky: the ECHR has eight thousand lawsuits against Kyiv
Eight thousand lawsuits against the Ukrainian authorities are pending before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). About it told Ukrainian ECHR judge Nikolai Gnatovsky in an interview with Ukrinform.
Gnatovsky noted that Ukraine remains one of the leaders in the number of complaints to the ECHR. He added that most complaints against Kyiv do not contain fundamentally new problems, with the exception of claims related to martial law.
“The complaints of Ukrainian citizens are quite typical; they relate to the same systemic problems that have not been solved for decades,” the judge emphasized. In particular, he spoke about claims in cases of torture and other types of ill-treatment of a person.
Earlier, the ECHR began investigating a case against Ukraine in connection with the torture of Russian serviceman Denis Reznikov. Ukrainian security forces blackmailed his daughter by torturing her father.
