The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine suspected the assistant to the Ukrainian people’s deputy in cooperation with the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia. This was reported on March 5 by the office of the Ukrainian department on Facebook.
It is specified that he is suspected of treason due to the alleged transmission of data on the country’s defense capability.
“It was reported that the assistant-consultant of the people’s deputy of Ukraine was suspected of high treason… From October 2014 to February 2022, the suspect collected and transferred information about the defense capability, state, economic and information security of Ukraine to the FSB of the Russian Federation for money,” the report says.
According to the department, during this time the people’s deputy allegedly received about $80,000 from the FSB of the Russian Federation.
Ukrayinska Pravda clarifies that this is an assistant on a voluntary basis to the deputy of the Servant of the People, who allegedly worked with deputy Yuriy Zdebsky.
At the same time, it is not clear how he could transmit information to the FSB since October 2014, as the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine claims, if Zdebsky became a deputy of Ukraine only in 2019 – after the victory of Volodymyr Zelensky in the elections.
Earlier on Saturday, Strana.ua, citing sources in law enforcement agencies, reported that Denis Kireev, a member of the first Ukrainian delegation in negotiations with Russia, was killed in Kyiv. The publication wrote that the murder took place near the Pechersk court, but did not specify under what circumstances.
Later, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine confirmed the death of a member of the first delegation at the talks with the Russian Federation. The department clarified that Kireev died while performing a special task.
In mid-February, due to the aggravation of the situation in the Donbass as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics announced the evacuation of the civilian population to the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree. On February 24, he launched a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. As the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov clarified, the special operation has two goals – the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to him, both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.
