Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation in the Ukrainian Donbass region, adjacent to the Russian border, stressing that Moscow would not accept threats from Ukraine.
However, the course of events shows that the military operation goes beyond this region, as Russia rained missiles on large areas inside Ukraine, including the capital, Kiev.
