” Belgium has sent three thousand machine guns, missiles come from Germany, other weapons come from France. Italy will send non-lethal weapons, i.e. equipment, vests, helmets ”. This was stated by Undersecretary of Defense Giorgio Mulé speaking in Controcorrente on ‘Rete4’.
” In Russia’s plans there was a sort of blitzkrieg ”, so it was not and “what was supposed to be a blitzkrieg risks turning into a war of position, in a city like Kiev that risks becoming al equal to other theaters of war of the recent past, think of Sarajevo and Baghdad, a city where you fight house by house – he added – In this the request for weapons arrived from Zelensky is also indicative ”.
Meanwhile, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands have already decided to send weapons to Kiev. Berlin government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit announced the news stating that the weapons come from the arsenals of the Bundeswehr, the German army. Germany will send 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 surface-to-air Stinger missiles.
Belgium will send 2,000 machine guns and almost 4,000 tons of fuel to Ukrainian forces, announced Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, adding that the country will deploy 300 troops in Romania as part of the strengthening of the NATO presence on the eastern flank. “Belgium is assuming its responsibilities in the context of NATO’s rapid response,” he explained.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte spoke today with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, telling him that “in addition to the 200 Stinger anti-aircraft missiles already on the way to Ukraine, Holland will deliver other weapons for self-defense against Russian aggression”. The Dutch premier informs via social media that he has had talks with other heads of state and government, such as French President Emmanuel Macron, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Council President Charles Michel. “We are alongside Ukraine in these dark hours”, he concludes.
France has decided to strengthen economic and financial sanctions against Russia in particular regarding access to the Swift platform and to send new military equipment and fuel to Ukraine. This was reported by ‘BfmTv’ which quotes a note from the Elysée. This strengthening of sanctions was done by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron “in coordination with European and American partners”. In addition, France also decided “national measures and the freezing of assets of Russian personalities”.
