The Ukrainian Army repelled during the last 24 hours 93 Russian attacks on the Pokrovsk, Toretsk and Kurakhove front axes, all of them in the eastern Donetsk region, where Moscow concentrates its greatest efforts and gradually gains ground.
The information is contained in the report this Monday (9) from the Ukrainian General Staff, which states that Pokrovsk continues to be the hottest zone on the battle front, where Russian troops concentrate their greatest activity.
According to the Kiev Center for Defense Strategies, a Ukrainian think tank that reports daily on the developments of the war, Russia is trying to encircle the Ukrainian contingent that remains east of the Vovcha River, on the Pokrovsk axis.
“Despite the statements of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine about the cessation of enemy advances in the Pokrovsk direction, no real pause is observed,” the center’s latest bulletin reported, attributing the slowdown in the pace at which the Russians are gaining ground in some parts of the region to attempts to push the Ukrainians off the eastern bank of the Vovcha.
In turn, Russia claimed this Sunday (8) the capture of the town of Novogrodivka, about 10 kilometers from the city of Pokrovsk.
DeepState, an influential Ukrainian military Telegram channel, also reported that Vodiane, another town in the Pokrovsk area, is now under the control of Russian troops.
