The Ukrainian Ministry of Finance announces that it has received funds from Canada of 1 billion Canadian dollars (equal to 730 million euros) “raised in accordance with the loan agreement between Ukraine and Canada”, the funds will be “directed to the state budget to finance priority expenses, in particular to guarantee social priorities and humanitarian expenses. “This is the first contribution received by Kiev according to the mechanism defined by the International Monetary Fund: the loan has a ten-year duration with a rate of 1.69% annual.
Kyiv Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko thanked the Canadian government for the loan, emphasizing “the unwavering support for Ukraine in the fight for our freedom. This decision once again demonstrates Canada’s leadership in supporting the Ukrainian people” .
