FT: Ukraine has complaints about NATO’s idea to allocate $100 billion to it
The leadership of Ukraine was not enthusiastic about NATO’s idea to agree on the allocation of $100 billion to Kyiv, so the authorities began to have complaints. About it writes RBC with reference to the Financial Times (FT).
A British publication’s diplomatic source in NATO said that the amount of $100 billion actually duplicates existing assistance from alliance members, without representing separate funds. According to him, they are trying to prove to Kyiv that in this way it will be possible to increase the efficiency of coordination and supplies.
“The intention is good… But NATO will add little,” the newspaper’s source noted.
At the end of May, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced a new aid package for Ukraine. According to the diplomat, NATO is preparing a “powerful assistance package” for Kyiv and will present it at the summit, which will take place on July 9-11. He also noted that Washington intends to act “consciously and effectively” when it comes to supporting Ukraine.
