“The conversation focused on developments in Ukraine and efforts to find a joint solution to the current food crisis and its serious repercussions on the world’s poorest countries,” the Italian government said in a statement.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24 is threatening food security around the world due to the role of both countries as giant grain and fertilizer exporters, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization recently warned. Agriculture (FAO).
In fact, the conflict is causing food and energy prices to rise.
In this sense, Italy is organizing a Ministerial Dialogue with the Mediterranean countries for next June 8in collaboration with the FAO, to understand the needs and outline intervention measures in the face of the serious repercussions of the war on food security, in particular in the Mediterranean and Africa.
Italy has also presented a plan to the UN with the aim of “facilitating a step-by-step dialogue” between Ukraine and Russia because “there is no imposed peace”, as Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio explained a week ago.
