Ukraine’s latest large-scale drone attack against Russia targeted an ammunition depot storing Iranian ballistic missiles and launchers, Andriy Kovalenko, director of the Center for Combating Disinformation, run by the Council for National Security and Defense of Ukraine.
“Kotluban, Volgograd region. The ammunition arsenal of the Main Directorate of Missile Armament and Artillery of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation was attacked,” Kovalenko wrote on his Telegram channel this Sunday morning.
“Some Iranian ballistic missiles were stored there, as well as their launchers,” he added.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 125 Ukrainian drones were “destroyed and intercepted” on the night of September 29, including 67 in the Volgograd region, where the ammunition depot is located.
However, local press and Telegram channels reported explosions as well as fires and detonations at the Kotluban warehouse.
Russia claims seizure of yet another city in Ukraine
The Russian Army has regained control over the city of Makiivka, in the Ukrainian region of Luhansk, according to the Russian Defense Ministry this Sunday.
According to the military statement, the city, invaded for the first time in 2022 and later recovered by Ukrainian forces, returned to Russian control as part of the offensive actions of the Zapad (West) group of troops in that sector of the battlefront.
Enemy casualties in that area, according to Moscow, totaled 450 men in one day. Furthermore, over the past day, Russian forces shot down 172 drones in combat zones in Ukraine, the military statement detailed.
