The Russian side proposed 10 humanitarian corridors for March 14, the Ukrainian authorities agreed on three routes. This was announced on Monday by the head of the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev.
“Every day, for the eleventh day in a row, from 10 a.m., the Russian side opens humanitarian corridors in the Kiev, Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv directions <...> Of the 10 routes we offer, the Ukrainian authorities have agreed on only three today, but at the same time again cynically in relation to to his own people – once again not a single humanitarian corridor to the Russian Federation,” he said.
According to Mizintsev, Moscow agreed to the 11 additional humanitarian corridors proposed by Kiev in the Kiev, Zaporozhye, Mariupol, Luhansk and Donetsk directions.
The colonel-general also said that today, at 15:00, a mass evacuation of the population from Mariupol began.
“The successful operation to unblock the city made it possible today from 15:00 to open humanitarian corridors for the exit of civilians and to begin mass evacuation of the population, which had been held hostage by neo-Nazis for a long time,” he said.
Mizintsev noted that four convoys for 200 buses had been formed to evacuate Mariupol residents, of which 50 had already arrived in the city.
“Arriving citizens will be provided with everything necessary, the issues of placing children in preschool institutions, schoolchildren and students in educational institutions will be promptly resolved. With each Mariupol citizen who survived the horrors and humiliation from neo-Nazis, individual work will be carried out with the participation of medical workers and employees of the psychological service,” he explained.
Over the past 24 hours, more than eight thousand citizens have been evacuated from dangerous regions of Ukraine.
“Over the past 24 hours alone, without the participation of official Kyiv, 8,575 people have been evacuated from dangerous regions of Ukraine, as well as the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, including 1,292 children, and in total, since the start of the special military operation, 248,993 people have already been evacuated, of which 54,481 child. The state border of the Russian Federation was crossed by 2,415 units of personal vehicles, and in total already 27,923,” said Mizintsev.
At the same time, the humanitarian situation in Ukraine continues to deteriorate, in some cities it has already become critical, the colonel-general added.
“The humanitarian situation in Ukraine, unfortunately, continues to deteriorate rapidly, and in some cities it has become critical. Mariupol was in an extremely difficult situation for a long time,” he said.
Earlier that day, it was reported that the military of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Russia destroyed almost all firing points equipped by neo-Nazis in suburban areas of Mariupol.
In mid-February, due to the aggravation of the situation in the Donbass as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics announced the evacuation of the civilian population to the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree. On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. As the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov clarified, the special operation has two goals – the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to him, both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.
