UK foreign intelligence service MI6 recruited two Chinese officials
The United Kingdom’s foreign intelligence service, MI6, has recruited two Chinese officials. This was reported by the Chinese Ministry of State Security, writes TASS.
According to the department, a “major espionage case” has been uncovered. A Chinese citizen surnamed Wang, who previously studied in the UK under a bilateral educational exchange program, and his wife were caught collaborating with MI6.
The ministry noted that at first Wang provided the British side with so-called consulting services for a high fee. He then received professional training from MI6 and was sent to China. Later, British intelligence recruited his wife, whose surname was Zhou, it is believed in China.
As a result of the investigation, it turned out that Wang and Zhou worked for British intelligence and passed on information that undermined Chinese state security.
Earlier, a representative of Britain’s military intelligence (DI) said that the country is now closer to a large-scale conflict than at any time in recent memory.
