The leaders of UGT and CCOOO have been against an extension of the budget for 2025 and ask to approve new accounts that reflect the new political reality “without the extreme right.”
The general secretary of CCOO in Castilla y León, Vicente Andrés, complained this Friday to the Board, after holding a meeting with the counselors of Economy and Doing, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, and of Industry, Commerce and Employment, Leticia García, about the community budgets for the year 2025, which “seek consensus” to approve them as part of a “new political reality” in the community without the “extreme right” in the autonomous government. This was stated by Andrés in statements sent to the media after the meeting in which the heads of UGT and CEOE Castilla y León, Faustino Temprano and Santiago Aparicio, also participated.
After pointing out the points in which the union disagrees with “the general lines of the draft budget”Andrés has considered that there is still time to move it forward, and that it would be “important” to have budgets and “seek consensus, political agreement” as the autonomous government finds itself in a minority.
He added that they have “urgently” asked the Board for “new” budgets that are developed “in the terms that are needed.” to address a guarantee of public services, the demographic problem and other problems of labor rights and equality”.
Although he has pointed to the possibility of the Budget being presented “next Thursday”, the union representative has considered that it would be “out of time” and would entail an extension during the first months of the year. However, Andrés believes that there is still “time” because he believes it is appropriate to do new budgets “adapted to the new economic and political reality”. In this sense, he recalled that in the autonomous government “the extreme right that conditioned policies in favor of working people is no longer present.”
In this sense, he recalled that the budgets that are in force for the year 2024 are “loaded with cuts in rights for working people and cuts for equality policies between women and men.” Therefore, he emphasizes that They would not support an extension of these accounts in 2025 because “it wouldn’t be good” for the community.
Therefore, they defend that “it is time for negotiation between groups to occur”through “partial amendments, specific agreements” and that it be debated, because he sees it as positive that the autonomous Parliament “in its maximum expression” develops “the democratic game of negotiation.”
Regarding the matters in which he does not agree with the “draft” which he remembers that “is not yet registered or approved” he has fundamentally pointed out “everything that has to do with taxation and the lowering of taxes on the most high”.
CCOO has also expressed its disagreement with the budget increase for private health concerts and educational concerts. “It seems to us that the budget for that part is getting larger and larger,” he noted.
For his part, the regional secretary of UGT, Faustino Temprano, has valued the meeting that unions and employers held this morning with the regional Executive by recovering something that, until “Vox entered” the Government, was always done and that was to convene a meeting to “explain” the budget items before “presenting them in the Cortes”.
The union leader explained that, during the meeting, the Board has presented all the issues reflected in the Social Dialogue. In this sense He has been in favor of there being “new accounts” and those of 2024 are not extended taking into account that they were formed “with Vox in the Government” and that they represented an “attack on everything that was Social Dialogue.”
A preliminary project, that of 2025, which includes items valued at 333 million and that reflects all the agreements reached within the Social Dialogue. At this point, he has warned that would not like this tool to become a “currency” to reach agreements with “some parliamentary group” to move them forward.
Advance social policies
Meanwhile, the Board has indicated that the meeting is the result of clear and unequivocal commitment of the Government of Castilla y León to Social Dialogue. A commitment that, in addition to having borne fruit in the signing of major agreements between the Regional Government of Castilla y León and the economic and social agents, is also reflected in the desire to make them participate in the major instruments of political management that it has. the Community to advance social and economic improvements, with budgets being one of the main tools to channel these improvements and achieve maximum effectiveness of the agreements reached.
Those responsible for the autonomous Government have shared the need to continue developing political action through dialogue and the will to agree in order to successfully face the challenges and opportunities of the Community and continue advancing in all those aspects that allow improving the living conditions of the people of Castilla y León. Likewise, they have agreed on the importance of having accounts that give adequate support for the necessary measures to achieve these objectives shared by both the Government of Castilla y León and the social and economic agents of the Social Dialogue.
