UFO in Rome: a series of luminous flying objects has been filmed in the skies of the capital. Aliens? No, just meteors or a satellite in focus
A shower of bright and sparkling “unidentified” flying objects. It is the one that has caught the goal of Tony Zecchinelli, a professional photographer specializing in portraying actors. The photojournalist observed, through his camera, the passage of numerous unidentified objects and very bright. The observation was made from the home garden 100 meters from the Battistini metro. News that is learned now. “It was about ten in the evening”, says Zecchinelli, “and as usual when the night sky is clear, I position the camera on the tripod and let it record for about half an hour, without ever detaching or moving as a point of view of the objective”. And the camera, once it looked at the video, caught a shower of bright objects. Zecchinelli then contacted Angelo Maggioni, the president of AIR (Italian alien research association, based in Savona), expert ufologist investigator, to get details on what he had filmed. Maggioni thus began the investigative process to find a plausible explanation.
To find out more about the phenomenon, the investigative staff composed of August Iannitti, former Marshal AMI (Italian Air Force), from Michele Manzoni ex B.re of the Carabinieri and Knight of the Republic, former employee of missions in Iraq, and by the expert ufologist Emilio Acunzo. “The witness of the sighting”, explains Maggioni, “already known a year ago for another sighting, is reliable and knows the use of photographic tools. The film examined now lasts about half an hour and, as usual, conventional objects such as airplanes, birds, sounding balloons, lanterns, drones were excluded from the investigation. This is because none of these objects was found to be compatible with the observed objects and their behavior ”. AIR therefore asked for the authoritative opinion of a member of its board, Fabio Ippoliti, engineer expert in satellite subsystems of Telemetry, Remote Control, Tracking and specialist in Satellite Aerospace Flight Operations, to understand if the phenomenon could concern the satellites. But the human artificial objects in question, due to their orbits and their distances, were excluded by the expert and the video could therefore show a meteor shower. But not only.
“In addition to tears of San Lorenzo”, Explains Ippoliti,“ another hypothesis on the case under examination could concern the uncontrolled return of some satellite adrift, which during the de-orbiting it came into contact with our atmosphere, disintegrating and leaving a trail of fragments which then ignited. An event that already happened in the skies of Texas during the return of the Columbia shuttle ”. Returning to the shooting stars. At this time of year, the Earth, with its orbit, enters a zone where it intercepts one trail of meteors which will touch the highlight in the night of San Lorenzo, on August 10. The celestial phenomenon occurs because our planet is particularly close to the orbit of a comet, the Swift – Tuttle, which in its elliptical motion around the Sun releases gas and dust into space that come out of its nucleus and mark its orbit. Elements attracted by our force of gravity and which cause the phenomenon of shooting stars. “So”, adds Maggioni, “the probability is low that the phenomenon captured by photographer Zecchinelli can be connected to any unidentified objects intended as UFOs / UAPs of alien origin. But there are still rare events to be able to film such a massive passage of meteors and the destruction of a satellite ”.
