At the end of last year, Ubisoft officially confirmed the existence of a remake for the first Splinter Cell. Specifically, the project is being developed by ubisoft toronto, although like many other games from the studio, this remake will also have the support of several other teams around the world. The title is still far from reaching our hands, but a few interesting details were revealed today.
As part of a recent meeting with shareholders, Ubisoft mentioned that the remake of Splinter Cell is being created from scratch with the power of Snowdrop Engine, own graphics engine that has also been used in other studio games such as Tom Clancy’s The Division, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, South Park: The Fractured but Wholeand some others.
Sadly, Ubisoft He did not provide additional details regarding its possible release date or even window, thus reiterating that the project is still in very early stages of development. I would even dare to say that this remake could see the light until 2024, depending on how its development progresses.
Publisher’s note: It’s about time Ubisoft finally brought Sam Fisher back, although I must admit they took a long time to do so. Hopefully this remake really lives up to fans’ expectations, as otherwise the entire Splinter Cell franchise could be in jeopardy.
