The United Arab Emirates University announced the funding of the “Summer Research Program for Students (SURE+)”. This program is part of the university’s initiatives to provide students with knowledge and skills and keep pace with the needs of the labor market in the future. The university aims to develop programs that focus on supporting future generations to play an active role in the development of society.
The Office of the Associate Deputy for Scientific Research has developed an ambitious strategy to build a culture of research, encouraging and motivating students to participate in research efforts by giving them opportunities to examine real data and research results. The projects also provide excellent opportunities for students to participate in international conferences and competitions.
The Associate Deputy for Scientific Research, Dr. Ahmed Murad, stressed that the UAE University empowers students with academic research skills that will allow them to build their scientific knowledge and achieve the vision and future aspirations of the country. This program aims to enhance students’ participation in research projects and provide them with the expertise and skills of the research team under the supervision of qualified faculty members, noting that the university has funded 204 research projects with the participation of 868 male and female students from various faculties and disciplines, compared to 159 research projects with the participation of 567 students in 2018.
The summer research projects are distributed as follows: 53 research projects for the College of Science, 52 research projects for the College of Engineering, 28 research projects for the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, 22 research projects for the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, 21 research projects for the College of Information Technology, and 12 research projects for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences 7 research projects for the College of Business and Economics, 7 research projects for the College of Education, a research project for the College of Law and another for the University College.
The Office of the Associate Deputy for Scientific Research intends to hold a conference in 2023 to present the results of research and the results of summer projects to the university community and the local community, as the university believes in the importance of constructive communication with partners to develop and improve research outputs.
