The National Coordinator of Education Workers fulfills that origin is destination. And beyond the differences with the López Obrador government has decided to make his seedling in it Plinth capital a couple of days before that the manifestation Of the call pink tide on this occasion in support of the candidacies of Xochitl Galvez and Santiago Taboada.
It may be that reason prevails and the sit-in is lifted before Sunday’s demonstration, but everything indicates that this will not be the case and that the CNT will do a new favor to the 4Ttrying block a manifestation than his own president has done everything for minimize: from place fences of three meters around National Palace (finally, and as many of us said, the presidential decision to settle in the Palace has achieved is expropriate a national monument from the peoplean extraordinary space with some murals that are no longer publicly accessible and further block the open spaces of the historic center) until deciding don’t raise the flag as if this were not for all Mexicans.
It seems to me that, as on other similar occasions, they will be vain efforts, politically unnecessary, that only serve to further polarize society and that they are counterproductive in the face of the growing climate of violence that the country lives.
Obviously this is not understood that way from the National Palace itself, where one day the opposition demonstration was attacked, at the same time as trying, uselessly, to discredit María Amparo Casar, even going so far as to announce that the FGR (which on paper was at least she should be autonomous) will initiate criminal proceedings against her for exercising a right, nothing less than collecting the pension for the death of her husband, her tax data will be publicly aired (that is a crime that should be prosecuted ex officio) or insulting media and journalists. It doesn’t matter, the logic is polarization and leading the country into a confrontation where in the end there will be no winners.
Everything revolves around that and the presidential reckoning at the end of his government. And there are characters and groups that lend themselves to that. One of them, we have already seen, is the CNTE (which does not eat in the Palace with the president like those of the SNTE, but it is its educational model that the government applies and resources continue to flow to them from the states where they have control of education, such as Oaxaca and Michoacán). Others are like Jorge Álvarez Maynez who evidently plays a divisive role in the opposition forces, with an evident inclination towards Morena.
I understand the Citizen Movement’s strategy of trying to have its own force in Congress that allows it to be a point of balance, but that would not have prevented it from joining an opposition alliance where each force maintains its own parliamentary group. Maynes, Dante Delgado and Samuel García are wrong, with their own dynamics: they are playing as supporting actors in a play where they will end up being disposable. The position of Enrique Alfaro and now (although he had already raised it before) of Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas asking that the opposition efforts join was much more sensible. That is the logic of creating your own profile, a force that goes beyond a slogan or phosphorescent tennis shoes.
It is a shame because among its legislative proposals MC has good options and in Jalisco it has a very good candidate in Pablo Lemus. But in MC, after June 2, the contradictions will also be very difficult to handle, especially if Mariana Rodríguez, Samuel’s wife, does not win in Monterrey.
The climate of violence is part of all this. The attack against Alessandra Rojo De la Vega is unacceptable that it is handled with such superficiality, and that there is even an attempt to victimize the victim. There are no differences or contradictions between what the opposition candidate declared in the Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office with respect to what was seen in the video released by the capital’s prosecutor’s office. As if we did not live in a country with 187 thousand dead, 50 thousand missing, with constant attacks on candidates, especially local ones and from different parties in the most different areas of the country. The reality is insecurity, impunity to carry out violence with the additional reassurance that the authorities end up suspecting the victims more than the perpetrators.
To say, as has been said in the morning that the country is at peace or that in other elections the political climate was much hotter, is an underestimation of the violence that is experienced in the country and the risks that exist in the face of the electoral journey.
And everything concludes with another factor that is not minor. Define the electoral result. The election is pending, Claudia said, Clara Brugada has ratified it, Rocío Nahle repeated it, and President López Obrador maintains it. The election is not a procedure and is not defined. It is the largest election in history with thousands of elected positions up for grabs at all three levels of government. Beyond polls, where there is everything and for everyone, in addition to the presidency of the republic, there are nine states, including Mexico City, that are in dispute and of those seven have an uncertain result. The formation of the congress can admit multiple readings, the cross-vote between different parties is also a reality and in the end, at the local level, the name of the candidates, beyond the force that drives them, carries a lot of weight. And the polarization induced by power makes this whole scenario more complex.
