At least two people were killed in a shooting at a cafe in the Norwegian capital, Oslo, police said early Saturday.
Police said on Twitter that several people were injured, and that a suspect was arrested shortly after the shooting near the scene.
Police spokesman Tore Barstad later said that all evidence pointed to a single attacker, according to Norwegian broadcaster NRK. Three people were seriously injured, while 19 people received medical care.
NRK indicated that there were at least three crime scenes.
No information was clear about the motive behind the shooting, but the incident was not classified as a terrorist incident.
The police did not provide any information about the age or identity of the arrested suspect.
The suspect did not make any statements, and the police searched his apartment and confiscated two weapons used in the attack, the network quoted Barstad as saying.
