The agent was regulating traffic when he was hit by the electric vehicle
A local police officer from San Javier was injured when he was hit by a scooter in which two minors were traveling. The agent was regulating traffic at a zebra crossing when he was run over by the electric vehicle.
The minors were denounced, with a fine of 200 euros each that their legal guardians must pay, for disobeying the police signals to stop the vehicle and for circulating two people on a scooter. The outrage occurred at 2:24 p.m. last Tuesday, when two agents were carrying out traffic control and regulation tasks at the exit of the IES Mar Menor students.
One of the policemen, who was regulating one of the pedestrian crossings located in front of this institute, near Cabo Prior street, stopped the traffic, stopping the vehicles from Cabo Roche street in both directions, so that they could cross the road pedestrians. At that moment, he observed how, about 20 meters away, a personal mobility vehicle (an electric scooter) was heading towards him at high speed, in the direction of Neptuno Street, overtaking the vehicles that were already stopped by the agent’s order.
The occupants, two minors, “clearly disobeying the police orders to stop the vehicle,” according to the police proceedings, ran over it, causing it to fall to the ground, which caused various injuries to the left hand, the elbow left and the hip on the same side.
The agent moved by his own means shortly after to a health center, where he was treated for the injuries he presented. The minors were sanctioned for an infraction of disobedience to police signals, as well as for circulating two people in a Personal Mobility Vehicle (VMP), something that is prohibited according to the regulations of the General Directorate of Traffic.
