The town of Jaca (Huesca) will count from next year with an average degree of professional training (FP) of cooking and gastronomy. It will be given a concerted center, the PIAS de Jaca schools, to the detriment of another nearby population, Sabiñánigo, who also claimed it for the Public Institute of Secondary Education Biello Aragón. The two municipalities, governed by PP and PSOE respectively, have fueled the controversy and the Government of Aragon, which has taken the measure, indicates that it responds to the planning of the Department of Education and that the degree “fits perfectly” where it will be implemented.
The Teaching of Workers’ Commissions (CCOO) of Aragon denounces the “lack of coherence” of the regional executive, while the municipalities began months ago a dialectical battle for this average degree. The mayor of Sabiñánigo, Berta Fernández, collects the feeling of this center and argues that “in the IES Biello Aragón de Sabiñánigo, a basic degree of cuisine has been taught for eight years” and that the Government of Aragon was requested to implement the middle degree of this same professional branch.
This was taken in the Jaqués Consistory as “a lack of institutional respect” because it had already made this same request “before”, also covered in the Association of Companies of the Jacetania region and private entrepreneurs. Fernández replies that he had no official record of it and that he learned “through the media” that Jaca had advanced.
“Until now, the institutional collaboration and the optimization of the educational offer promoted us not to double branches of professional training in both locations, and in case of expanding cycles in any of them, the logical has always been to do where the previous degree is already implanted, in this case, in Sabiñánigo,” says the mayor of Sabiñánigo, who asks for “respect” for her City Council and regrets that Jaca does not go to her.
Mayor Jaqués, Carlos Serrano, asks “institutional respect” to Berta Fernández, and censures that this position “does not correspond to the respect and collaboration that must prevail among our neighboring municipalities.” He understands that institutions defend the interests of their municipalities in matters such as health, security, transport or firefighters, among others, “but without harming other administrations.”
The Teaching Federation of CCOO of Aragon, representing the center of Sabiñánigo, remarks that this made a proposal to the department to give continuity to the basic FP that already has “implanted and consolidated with career official personnel”. The center of the center, “had the support of entities in the area to carry out potential practices and spaces to be able to be conditioned.”
But the project has been stranded and CCOO regrets “that there has been no reply to the request of Biello Aragón,” a disrespect for the work done by the teaching staff, which invests a lot of time and effort to carry out programs and projects. “. Tacha this decision of” incomprehensible “because” leaves the IES Biello Aragón de Sabiñánigo without being able to give continuity to his students of Basic FP.
For the union it is a “outrage” to the educational planning of the Serrablés Center and public education in general, “demonstrating the Department of Education, once again, the lack of coherence the time to implement new teachings or programs, prevailing other purposes beyond educational and betting on the privatization of teaching”.
In this sense, CCOO points out that for the course the administration has approved the implementation of 1st and 2nd of the ESO at the Santa Ana de Sabiñánigo school, also arranged, which is “totally unnecessary as there are vacant squares in public centers”. The union requires the department “a rectification in both cases and a coherent investment of public resources.”
The Autonomous Executive, on the other hand, clarifies that this decision responds “to the planning of the Department of Education. Jaca’s proposal is a proposal worked for a long time with the involvement of the entire sector and many entities not only of the town, but of the valley,” indicate sources of the Government of Aragon.
From the Department of Education it is also understood that “Jaca has a tourist and services context where the degree fits perfectly. On the other hand, the Biello Aragón center had never requested the degree until Jaca’s proposal was announced.”
