The Local Police investigates alleged crimes of false documents, Social Security fraud and illegal contracts in the plot
The Cartagena Local Police arrested two people for their alleged participation in a plot investigated for false documents, Social Security fraud and illegal hiring in fruit and vegetable sales shops, which LA TRUTH reported last Saturday, according to confirmed municipal sources this Sunday.
The Department of Citizen Security, led by Mayor Juan Pedro Torralba, launched a campaign last week to prevent the occupation of public roads by establishments selling fresh produce from the garden. During the inspections, the agents detected the existence of employees who worked more than 15 hours with only one afternoon off a week, as published by this newspaper.
Five of these people, of Pakistani origin, were interrogated in recent days on suspicion of irregular stay in Spain, false contracts and even identity theft. They requested protection as alleged victims of a plot of labor exploitation that has led to the two arrests.
The campaign to control the commercial activity of greengrocers aims to remove the boxes and shelves placed on public roads. The area directed by Torralba confirmed that the inspections have resulted in seven reported establishments, as reported by this newspaper.
