The changes have generated some debate on networks because some streamers think they will receive less income.
It was already announced some time ago that the Twitch platform planned to modify the price of its local subscriptions in order to adapt to each country, and not have a universal price as before. In Spain, subscribing to a channel had a price of 4.99 euros, now, with the changes applied by the social network, the cost is reduced by 20%, going to be worth 3.99 euros each subscription.
From Twitch they assure that with these changes more users will subscribe to the different channelsA fact that may sound positive, since if it is cheaper, we will presumably join and support more channels. But you also have to keep in mind that content creators’ revenue comes through total economic value. Some streamers have expressed their fear on social networks because apparently they will enter less money than until now with the changes. In any case, it remains to be seen what will happen, since from Twitch they defend this measure claiming that, in the pilot tests they have carried out with the new program, they were impacted with an increase in the number of subscriptions.
“Compared to the three months prior to the incorporation of local subscription prices, viewers are giving away five times more subscriptions. Now, more creators obtain income from subscriptions and more viewers support their favorite channels ”, they point out from the official statement broadcast by Twitch.
From the official Twitch account they have specified that the new price update begins today. Thus, If you want to subscribe or renew your subscription to your favorite channel or channels, it will cost you 3.99 euros. They also say that price changes will be reflected in the next billing cycle. It will be from then on when we know if this measure benefits or harms creators.
